How the Najm service actually works

After reporting, an appointment is booked through the "Taqdeer" system for a technical inspection of the vehicle, and the report is submitted electronically straight to the insurance company without needing an in-person visit. Insurance companies are statutorily required to transfer the compensation amount within a maximum of 15 days from completion of all requirements.

Objecting to the Najm report or an insurer's decision

If the Najm report contains an error (a plate number, driver name, or an inaccurate fault split) or damage that wasn't recorded, you can file an electronic correction or objection request before the final report is adopted. And if the insurer rejects the claim despite a sound report, you can file a complaint with the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) or bring a claim before the insurance dispute resolution committees: neither route requires waiting for a separate criminal ruling first.

When it goes beyond material damage

Accidents involving physical injury or death are automatically referred to Traffic Police rather than being handled through a Najm report alone, and give rise to parallel tracks: the Criminal Court to rule on death or injury by mistake, the General Court to rule on the civil compensation claim, plus the insurance claim itself. How fault is apportioned between parties (such as a 50-50 split at an intersection) directly affects each party's share of diyah and compensation, so challenging an inaccurate fault-share finding can fundamentally change the case's outcome.
